Closure Notice Hobart Place GP

Dear Patient,

Hobart Place General Practice will be closing on 30 April 2023. Several of our doctors were planning to retire in the middle of the year and we have been unable to retain our GP registrar and the combined effect of this will make Hobart Place General Practice financially unviable. A lot of you will have read reports in the media in the last two years about how the erosion in value of the Medicare rebate has put pressure on general practice. This has certainly been true for the Interchange General Practice and its successor, Hobart Place General Practice, where we’ve found it increasingly difficult to practise the mixed billing model in general practice. Government policy about GP registrar placements has also meant that very few of the GP registrars who have trained with us have ended up staying with us. The focus of Interchange General Practice on disadvantaged populations has also meant that many GPs think that working at Hobart Place General Practice will also mean working with a lot of complex and challenging patients and so have avoided applying to work with us.

If you want to write to your local politicians about the closure of Hobart Place General Practice, here is a template for you to use and a list of local politicians. (Please See Below)
